Updates on FAFSA 24-25

The Department of Education has significantly simplified the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  The benefit to families is that it will take less time to apply for financial aid!

In 2020, the FAFSA Simplification Act was enacted into law as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. The FAFSA Simplification Act represents a significant overhaul of federal student aid, including the FAFSA form, need analysis and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in the Title IV programs.

As a result of the new, simplified FAFSA, The Department of Education has encountered delays in the rollout process. Roberts Wesleyan University is closely following the changes to the simplified FAFSA and is committed to keeping you updated as guidance from the Department of Education is released.

Here is what you need to know at this point:

  • Universities will start receiving FAFSA data from the Department of Education in March 2024 (this was delayed from January 2024)
  • Student Aid Reports (SAR) will not be sent to students until March 2024
  • The Office of Student Financial Services at Roberts will begin sending out Financial Aid Offers in the beginning of April 2024, as long as there are no further delays from the Department of Education.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA was made available on Dec. 31, 2023.

If you have not completed the FAFSA, you can also get an SAI estimate by completing the SAI Simulator through the Department of Education
